December Ipsy Bag | 2016

There’s nothing more exciting than getting mail–especially around the holiday season. I was pumped when I opened my Ipsy package this month. First of all–can we talk about how cute the bag is this month? I love how fuzzy it is and that it was created to work as a makeup bag and an evening clutch–despite the fact that I would never be caught out on the town with a furry pink bag. It’s some people’s style, just not mine. Overall I was pleased with my loot this month. There were highs and lows, laughter and tears.

MintPear Beauty Blending Sponge: Don’t let the description fool you–this is nothing like the beloved Beauty Blender. I was so excited to receive this initially. My favorite black beauty sponge also came from Ipsy and I can’t live without it. This sponge however…well. The shape wasn’t my favorite, but I was willing to look past that. I wet my sponge and got to blending my concealer. Immediately I noticed that the sponge was soaking up all of my product and none of it was being spread across my face. If that wasn’t enough, the sponge was hard as a rock. Seriously, it was painful to use. Needless to say, it was tossed in the garbage shortly thereafter. RIP, imposter!

Privai Aqua Gel Masque: I love getting products from brands I’m not familiar with. This gel mask was no exception. According to the website, this mask can be left on for 10-15 minutes and then washed off, or left on to dry. I opted to wash mine off after 15 minutes. The mask does dry down completely, which I didn’t expect. I do think it made my skin softer though and will continue to use it once a week.

The Balm Mad Lash Mascara: I can never get enough of sample size mascaras. They are perfect for travel and they keep me from ever having to commit to a full size mascara. I don’t wear false lashes, so I count on my mascara to take my lashes to the next level. This mascara does that and more. It gives fullness without clumping, length, and the pigmentation is the blackest black. I would definitely purchase this in the full size–despite my commitment issues.

Tarte Maracuja Oil: Tarte is one of my favorite makeup brands. I had seen this oil a few times while browsing their site and was always curious, but never curious enough to pay full price for it. I’ve been applying the oil instead of lotion every night before bed for about a week now, and I think it does a great job of providing extra moisture, especially during the cold winter months.

mPrincess Mineral Eyeshadow in Melting Maple: This eyeshadow is probably my favorite product from this month’s bag. I’m a sucker for gold and glitter and this just does it for me. While I’m not a huge fan of loose powder when it comes to eyeshadow, I’ll make an excuse for this product. I applied this to my lid with a damp, flat brush and it did not disappoint. A friend even complimented it via FaceTime. It doesn’t get realer than that! I would be interested to try other products from this brand in the future.

What did you get in your Ipsy bag this month? Let me know in the comments!

xoxo,
