My Skincare Essentials

Hello, everybody! Today, I’m talking all things skincare. Typically I’m the kind of person who finds a product that works and then uses it until the end of time. But recently, I’ve been battling some new skin issues and thought it might be time to change up my routine–and I think I’ve found the perfect balance of OG products and newcomers. So grab a cuppa and settle in, this is a long one.

CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion: This is a product I’ve been using for close to 10 years. It was recommended to me years ago by a dermatologist and I absolutely love it. It’s not a thick formula, it has no fragrance and it can be used on the face or body. Typically the lotion lasts me about 5-6 months if I use it only on my face. I can’t imagine this NOT being a part of my nighttime routine. It’s just a must.

Philosophy Purity Made Simple One-Step Facial Cleanser: I would not be using this face wash if my mom had not generously gifted it to me. Is it expensive? Yes. It is worth the price? Absolutely. Philosophy is known for their quality products and this is a bestseller. It takes all my makeup residue off and leaves my face feeling extremely clean without drying it out. And if you grab the 32oz size like I have–it should last you a good long while.

Mario Badescu Cucumber Cleansing Lotion: This toner is a newer product. I picked it up in Ulta about a month ago and have been using it every night. I love how clean this makes my skin feel, and it does a great job of fighting blemishes. I will say that it does dry my skin out a bit, but that’s to be expected with most toners. Overall this toner has decreased how oily my skin gets and helps keep acne at bay. What’s better than that?

Skyn Iceland Icelandic Relief Eye Pen: I recently talked about this eye cream in my November Boxycharm post. Pop over to read my review and how I use this product!

Philosophy Hope in a Jar Original Formula Moisturizer for All Skin Types: Again, shout out to mom for another Philosophy product. This moisturizer is like nothing I’ve ever used. I tend to not use it daily, but instead when I want to really pamper my skin. It’s an incredibly lightweight formula that leaves your skin glowing and so so hydrated. There’s a reason this is a bestseller, people.

Giovanni Purifying Facial Mask: I love all things Giovanni, so when I saw this in the drug store, I had to try it out. This charcoal mask is from their D:tox System range, and lately, my skin has really needed a detox. Between the change in weather and all those holiday treats, things have been sketchy. I typically use this mask as a spot treatment and I find that it really does draw out impurities and shrinks blemishes quickly. Perfect for emergency blemish control!

Evologie Intensive Blemish Serum: I received this product in an Ipsy bag during the summer and have been trying to make my tiny sample last. I wasn’t familiar with this brand, but man does it work. I typically apply a small amount to a blemish before bed, but you can also apply it under your foundation in the morning. It’s powerful stuff.

Josie Maran Argan Daily Moisturizer SPF 47 with Sunboost ATB: This was a Christmas gift I received last year and it is honestly the best facial sunscreen I’ve ever used. It’s a very thin formula, but it applies to the skin beautifully. My favorite way to use this is without makeup. The argan oil work as a highlighter of sorts and gives you a sort of lit from within look. It’s so so amazing–check it out.

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion: This is another new product I picked up recently. I’ve heard so many YouTubers swear by this treatment and..well, I don’t really need much convincing past that. You apply the treatment to blemishes before bed, go to sleep, and wash any residue off in the morning. I will say, this is powerful. And when it says drying, it means it. I definitely find myself needing to moisturize more often. But honestly, it’s worth it if you can shrink a blemish overnight.

Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater: Another new product I picked up in Ulta, this facial spray can be used as a makeup primer, setting spray, or just a facial mist for hydration. I use it to set my makeup, and occasionally if I’m feeling extra dry. This leaves my makeup looking natural and slightly dewy. It’s such a reasonable price too. Go check it out!

Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment: I’ve been gifted this product a few times, and I honestly love it. It does such a great job of exfoliating and smoothing out my skin. I also find it helps with texture and discoloration over time. I use this once a week, and let it sit on the skin for about 2 minutes before rinsing. If you have sensitive skin, there is a gentler version available.

Jojoba Oil: This is something I think everyone should have. Jojoba oil is so close to our natural skin and scalp oil, and it does a great job of moisturizing. I mix mine with my CeraVe lotion in the winter when I’m feeling especially dry. Use it on your scalp or mix it with your body lotion. It’s so multifunctional.

What are your skin care essentials? Let me know in the comments!
